The flexible hopper blending system that didn't forget the blend.
1. Does your product need shear to achieve a blend? No problem.
2. Does your product need precise and uniform liquid addition?
No problem.
3. Do you have minor ingredients to extend through out the batch? Again, no problem.
4. Is your product validated in a traditional tumble blender vessel shape? No problem at all with the double-cone design of the Porta-Hopper.
5. Is your production bogged down in the added costs of small bin batches with high assay and record keeping costs? Again, no problem with batch sizes available up to 100 cubic feet.
The patented Gemco Porta-Hopper system combines a traditional double cone tumble blender design with a hopper system by making the lower part of the blender detachable and interchangeable. The entire batch now moves to the next step in the production process without the typical segregation effects of repeated handling and discharge.
And the Porta-Hopper provides fast processing. Typical blending times are spent in loading, unloading and cleaning the blender, not the process of blending. With the Porta-Hopper system, one hopper is blending as another is unloading. Still another hopper is awaiting assay while one is being washed and another is being filled for the next batch.
Cleaning the traditionally stationary top of the unit is fast and easy with full inspection access. Agitator disks and seal housings can be removed, cleaned and replaced in minutes. Hopper-top gaskets snap in to ensure no product cross contamination.
Controls range from simple push button relay logic to sophisticated controls including batch records in either hard copy print outs or electronic batch records.
New hopper-top seal systems, agitator shaft seals and pneumatic interlock systems make operation simple while minimizing maintenance.
Gemco Introduces New Severe Application Agitator Air Seal
Best Defense Against Particle Migration Back Into The Bearing Area, The Leading Cause of Agitator Failure
Gemco has recently developed a new sealing arrangement for the agitator shaft. The seal modification is a radical departure from the shaft packing approach of other Gemco designs. The sealing surface is moved to perpendicular to the shaft rotation.
A series of concentric face lip seals rotate upon a smooth, polished, replaceable surface. A small gas backpressure is maintained behind the seals to help prevent powder from entering the seal area. The powder path along the shaft will be stopped with a static O-ring between the rotating shaft and the rotating face seal holder.

All the advantages of the GemcoValve plus it comes apart, by hand, for easy cleaning.

Traditional GemcoValves offer full port opening to prevent bridging and promote mass flow thereby eliminating segregation or de-mixing as well as self-wiping of the sealing area preventing jamming and seat wear.
